Tanzania’s Patrick Mbundi appointed new EAC Secretary General
Amb. Stephen Patrick Mbundi of Tanzania was Saturday appointed Secretary General of the East African Community (EAC), during the bloc’s 25th Ordinary Summit in Arusha, Tanzania.
He succeeded Kenya’s Veronica Nduva, who held the position since June 2024.
The EAC congratulated Mbundi on his appointment as Secretary General for a five-year term.
Amb. Mbundi has extensive experience in regional integration and until his appointment served as the Permanent Secretary, responsible for EAC Affairs, in Tanzania’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation.
